Profile
Prof. Jac Vennix studied sociology and research methodology. He holds a Ph.D. from Nijmegen University. As of 1998 he is professor of research methodology at the Department of Management of Nijmegen University. The main focus of his research is on managerial decision making in complex systems and (computer-based) tools for decision support. Research interest and areas of expertise include System Dynamics computer simulation, Problem Structuring Methodologies, Scenario Analysis and Group Decision Support Systems.
For his work in the field of System Dynamics he received the Jay W. Forrester Award in 1999. In addition, his paper on ‘Group Model Building’ (1999) was selected as one of the 76 most influential papers on ‘systems thinking’ since the beginning of the field. He guest lectured amongst others at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, SUNY Albany, the London Business School, the University of Bergen, the University of Palermo, Nijenrode University, TIAS Business School and SIOO.
