Profile
Since August 2010, Utz Weitzel is Professor of Finance at the Economics Department of Nijmegen School of Management. After his school education in Namibia, he studied Economics and Business Administration at the University of Augsburg and the University of Bonn, completing his Masters in international Business & Economic Development at the University of Reading (UK). He obtained a PhD from the Humboldt-University Berlin and was a post-doc at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston (Chicago). Before his appointment in Nijmegen, Utz Weitzel was affiliated with the Utrecht University School of Economics and the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena (GER). His research topics include mergers and acquisitions, financial decision making, experimental economics and finance, corporate governance, and entrepreneurial decisions. Utz Weitzel is married and has three sons.

Profiel
Utz Weitzel is sinds augustus 2010 hoogleraar Financiële economie en ondernemingsfinanciering bij de sectie Economie van de Faculteit der Managementwetenschappen. Na zijn middelbare schooltijd in Namibië, studeerde hij Economie en Bedrijfskunde (Universiteit van Augsburg en Universiteit van Bonn), om daarna de masteropleiding International Business & Economic Development aan de Universiteit van Reading (GB) af te ronden. Zijn doctoraat ontving Utz Weitzel aan de Humboldt-Universiteit in Berlijn. Daarna bekleedde hij een post-doc positie aan de J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston (Chicago). Voor zijn benoeming in Nijmegen was Utz Weitzel verbonden aan de Utrecht School of Economics van de Universiteit Utrecht en aan het Max Planck Instituut voor Economie in Jena (D). Zijn onderzoek omvat fusies en overnames (M&A's), financiële besluitvorming, experimentele economie en financiering, corporate governance, en ondernemingsbeslissingen. Utz Weitzel is getrouwd en heeft drie zoons.
