Welcome at Analytical Chemistry: Chemometrics

The research in the department of Analytical Chemistry/Chemometrics completely focuses on data analysis, which we call chemometrics. More formally: chemometrics is the discipline within chemistry that develops methods to obtain relevant information from chemical data.

Meet our visiting professor Edwin van den Heuvel

Edwin van den Heuvel 2016Prof. van den Heuvel is a full professor at the TU/e, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
"As PhD student I focused on mathematical statistics, working on theory, but soon after I became much more interested in applied statistics (industrial, pharmaceutical, and medical). The scientific challenges that arise from data analysis is for me more attractive than the fundamental mathematical questions. It is my goal to bring statistics closer together to other disciplines, in particular the disciplines that also develop methodologies for data analysis. Therefore, integrating statistical concepts and methods with chemometrics solutions and techniques is one of my goals. My hope is that this would enlarge and improve the set of data analysis tools and create generic methods for many types of data."
