Interventions to change behavior
With our fundamental research we provide input for intervention and prevention programs. For example, we develop and test (by means of a randomized clinical trial) a video game to reduce smoking in youth and young adults based on our previous work about mechanisms contributing to the continuation of substance use. Along the same lines, we develop and test an app that assists parents in performing healthy parenting habits, with the goal to prevent early childhood obesity. In these studies we also focus on mechanisms of change to be able to contribute to future improvements of interventions to reduce substance use and addictive behaviours.
