Title:
The role of the justification of violence in maintaining a violent relationship.
Abstract:
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a global uprising issue. Much research had been done to understand what causes and consequences it has. However, most research only focuses on one side, either on the perpetrator or victim. In this project, we examine the dyadic process between both parties. Specifically, we investigate the role of justification of violence of both perpetrators and victims in maintaining a violent relationship. We will conduct cross-sectional, experimental, and longitudinal studies to test the hypotheses. The result of the studies will provide knowledge and insights into the dynamic relationship processes of IPV, and why people stay in a violent relationship.
