Using a transactional explanatory model in youth care
The lack of a thorough diagnostic process, in which an explanatory analysis of the difficulties experienced by a child and his/her family is made, is pointed out as one of the reasons for insufficiently effective youth care in the Netherlands. However, it is not yet known which elements in this process of the explanatory analysis are crucial. We expect that a positive alliance between the youth care professional, the client and his/her system in the diagnostic phase, contributes to consensus on a transactional explanatory model, which leads to a personalized treatment plan and therefore more effective help.
