Title:
Facilitating lexical quality development and enhancement in elementary school children
Abstract:
The aim of my research is to study lexical quality development and enhancement in elementary school children. Central research questions are whether words and children can be placed on a unidimensional scale according to word difficulty and child ability, and whether the order of these words can be predicted by certain word properties and child characteristics. Children’s progress over two years will be measured. Lastly I wish to create an adaptive training application and study whether selecting words from a child’s zone of proximal development advances the child’s vocabulary development.
