Welcome to the Artificial Intelligence Department.

In our research, we take a human-centered approach. Our aims are (1) to understand the theoretical basis of natural intelligence, (2) to create cutting-edge AI algorithms and approaches, enabling machines that think and behave more naturally, and (3) to develop the next generation of intelligent technology that improves the well-being of people in their environment.

Staff members contribute to our mission via one of the research groups. Our department also participates in the broader platform Radboud AI, where scientists with various research backgrounds work together to develop the next generation of responsible AI systems.

Our department is part of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour and embedded in the Faculty of Social Sciences. For more information on our AI educational program, please consult our Bachelor's or Master's educational pages.
