Project: Assamblages of Domestic Violence Policy in the Netherlands

Abstract: Domestic Violence is a social problem, which has grown in size over the past forty years. Not surprisingly, (local) governments seek to stop violence by implementing policies and legislation that are firm and invade the private lives of the people involved. Domestic violence is no longer a private matter, but has also become a public matter. This study intends to conduct an ethnography of those policies, which are regarded as assemblages; e.g. an association of ideas, objects, subjects and institutions. This study will show how professionals and subjects enact those policies and appropriate them in their daily practices and daily lives.
