We want to congratulate Luis Miguel on publishing Glosario Cultural Jaqaru: Lengua de los Andes de Lima, which offers an overview of Jaqaru’s cultural lexicon. Jaqaru is an endangered Aru language spoken in the highlands of Lima by the indigenous Jaqaru.

Grammar & Cognition welcomes a new postdoctoral researcher: Luis Miguel Rojas Berscia. Luis Miguel is currently working on a postdoc project studying morphosyntactic variation in Nimwèègs (the dialect of the city Nijmegen). He is also looking at language use and language attitudes towards Nimwèègs.

Some languages prefer to address people formally, others informally. What about the job ads of large multinationals recruiting in Dutch, Belgian Dutch, French, Spanish and German? Language scientists at the Centre for Language Studies (CLS) found that in German - known to be a formal language - there seems to be a shift from Sie to du. 'That knowledge is particularly relevant for intercultural corporate communication.'
