New book on endangered language spoken in the highlands of Lima

Linguist Dr Luis Miguel Rojas-Berscia has published Glosario Cultural Jaqaru: Lengua de los Andes de Lima, a book that offers an overview of Jaqaru’s cultural lexicon. Jaqaru is an endangered Aru language spoken in the highlands of Lima by the indigenous Jaqaru.

The project behind the publishing of the book was funded by the University of Tübingen and the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). The research was mainly conducted in the village of Aiza, in the district of Tupe, in Peru by linguists Yolanda Payano Qasipi and Luis Miguel Rojas-Berscia.

People interested in the book will be able to find it on Academia Peruana de la Lengua. A physical copy will also be made available at Radboud’s University Library.

Dr Luis Miguel Rojas-Berscia is currently working on the research project Nimwèègs from a dynamic point of view.
