Research Institutes

Communication Science is one of the seven research programmes of the Behavioural Science Institute (BSI), and links to all three interdisciplinary BSI themes: "Development and Learning", "Psychopathology, Health and Wellbeing," and "Social Processes and Communication." The group closely collaborates with the BSI research programmes Social Cognition, Social Development, and Developmental Psychopathology.

The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) is one of the research institutes of the Faculty of Social Sciences. It received excellent ratings in a recent evaluation. Its mission is to conduct top-level research on human behaviour. In addition to this fundamental aim (to understand behaviour), we aim at societal relevance (to influence behaviour). The BSI Graduate School, which is officially recognised by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), is responsible for the training and supervision of our PhD students. The BSI has state-of-the-art research facilities for observational studies, experiments, eye-tracking studies, EEG measurements and GSR recording, psychobiological research, and behavioural measurements in both real and 3D virtual environments. The neuroimaging facilities of the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging, fMRI, MEG and TMS are available for research on the neural bases of behaviour.
