The MSc CNS programme amounts to 120 ECs (European Credits). In the first year, 60 ECs are devoted to general compulsory courses, specialisation courses and a skill training course. In the second year, the hands-on research project amounts to 45 ECs, with an additional 12 ECs reserved for elective courses, plus a skill training course. Five general core courses are compulsory for all students, regardless of specialisation, and these are Trends in Cognitive Neuroscience (6 ECs), Neuroimaging I (6 ECs), Neurophilosophy (6 ECs), Lab Rotations (3 ECs), and one of the two Neuroimaging II courses (6 ECs). It is expected that the choice of the Neuroimaging II course (i.e., Haemodynamic or Electrophysiological methods) depends on the preferred experimental method during the internship. In addition, 30 ECs of specialisation core courses (to be chosen out of seven courses offered) are compulsory for each student, complemented by a skill training course. The second year is largely dedicated to gaining hands-on research experience in one of the participating research institutes and research groups, complemented by two elective courses and a skill training course. The second year will be completed by a Master Thesis and submission of the thesis to the student journal of the MSc Cognitive Neuroscience (i.e., the Proceedings of the Master’s programme Cognitive Neuroscience). Table 1 specifies the general framework of the programme.
Note that the programme starts with a two-week introduction course, prior to the start of all other courses; click here more details.
MSc CNS courses provide course sites in the Brightspace system, in which the lecturers provide essential information of their courses, such as Powerpoint slides. Brightspace also provide information of the MSc CNS programme.
