Transition rules Computing Science second year

In the second year, some changes have been implemented to finalize the implementation of curriculum 2017. Some courses have been moved to another quarter; some have been joined to one larger course, and one new course is introduced. Below you find an overview of changes in the second year, compared to how it was taught last year, and also mentioning the transition rules that apply.

If you have started your studies in 2016 or before and still need to complete courses of your second year, please take note of  below changes and make an appointment with your study advisor to discuss your programme and planning.

  • The courses NWI-IBC029 Functional Programming 1 (3 ec, Q2) and NWI-IBC030 Functional Programming 2 (3 ec, Q3) have been joined into one course NWI-IBC040 Functional Programming (6 ec) taught in Q1+Q2.

  • The entire course NWI-IBC040 Functional Programming is now mandatory in both specialisation tracks (previously, only NWI-IBC029 was included in the Cyber Security track).
  • If you still need to complete
    both courses NWI-IBC029 and NWI-IBC030, you should take the new course NWI-IBC040 Functional Programming.

  • If you need to complete only NWI-IBC029 -or- NWI-IBC030, you can do the appropriate part of the new course NWI-IBC040.
Please contact the lecturer at the beginning of the course  before October 1st at the latest, and discuss the appropriate arrangement.
The course NWI-IPC026 Web Security, which was not taught last year, is now taught again. It is now taught in Q1. None.
NWI-I00036 ICT and Society has now been moved to the second year for both specialisation tracks. None.
NWI-IBC031 New Devices Lab (3 ec) has been extended to 6 ec. The new course code is NWI-IBC041 and the course is taught in Q3+Q4. If you still need to complete the 3 ec course, please contact the lecturer before February 1st at the latest, and discuss the appropriate arrangement.
A new course, NWI-IBC042 Parallel Computing, has been introduced in Q4. None.
As of curriculum 2017, NWI-IPC023 Requirements Engineering has been moved to the first year, in Q4. None.
The course is taught in Q4; if you still need to complete it, you can do so. The course is taught in English.
As of curriculum 2017, NWI-IBC016 Combinatorics has been moved to the first year, Q3. None.
The course is taught in Q3; if you still need to complete it, you can do so. The course is taught in English.
As of curriculum 2017, NWI-IBC017 Calculus and Probability Theory has been moved to the first year, Q4. None.
The course is taught in Q4; if you still need to complete it, you can do so. The course is taught in English.
