Programme of Science and Education
As an MLS student, the specialisation Science and Education can lead to a first degree teaching permit in Chemistry. MLS students have to submit their BSc programme to the Radboud teaching academy to check for deficiencies. A teaching degree in Biology may also be possible, but will require a significant amount of extra Biology courses to be taken before admittance. The programme is in Dutch as it prepares you for teaching at Dutch secondary schools. The content of the Science and Education is described in a separate prospectus. The Molecular Life Sciences specific part is outlined here and consists of the following components totaling 60 EC to be done in the first year:
A. A minimum of 15 EC scientific Master courses; This part needs approval from the examination board. All courses offered by the Faculty of Science will be approved, with the exception of courses offered within the Science, Management and Innovation or Science in Society specialisations.
B. NWI-MOL501A Research project of minimally 29 EC, including practical work, report, presentation (min. 23 EC), and optionally specialisation courses relevant to the internship (max. 6 EC); This research project can be done on any research department from the list of internships open to MLS.
C. NWI-MOL412 Career orientation (1 EC)
D. Philosophy course (3 EC)
E. 6 EC Electives, courses (A), an extension of the research project (B), or both;
F. 3 EC Free electives.
Besides the 60 EC Molecular Life Sciences specific programme, your second year comprises of a 60 EC programme from the Dutch Educational Master. That programme is found here, in Dutch only.
