The Arts and Culture Studies programme minor offers insight into the various historical, theoretical and societal approaches to arts and culture.
In the course 'Cultural Theory' you learn to analyse wide-ranging visions on culture. The course ‘Gender in the Arts’ aims to guide you in reflection on the role of gender in media, arts and culture. 'City Culture', 'Vulgar Culture' and ‘Music Culture’ provide in depth looks into specific aspects of cultural life, while 'Visual Culture' focuses on expanding your skills of visual analysis. The remaining courses offer introductions to the history of western art and culture (spanning the time period 1860-1940 in 'History of the Western Arts 3' and the period after 1945 in 'History of the Western Arts 4').
