Speaker graduation ceremony Master’s

During the Master’s graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Science, for each candidate there will be a personal speaker, who will briefly tell something about the candidate. During your graduation request, you will be asked who will be your speaker. Discuss with the speaker whether they are present at the graduation or if they are willing to write a speech/record a video. Please do this before you put their name, email and department on the graduation request form.

Besides this, you will also give a short presentation (a couple of minutes) yourself during the graduation ceremony (except for students of (Medical) Biology). You will receive more information about this in the official invitiation approximately three weeks before the ceremony.

Below you can find an overview of who can be your speaker, organised per institute (in case you are present at the graduation ceremony).

(Medical) Biology

The standard speaker at the graduation ceremony is the primary supervisor (this can be an external person) of one of the two internships. In case the external person is not available, the secondary supervisor can be the speaker.

The standard speaker at the graduation ceremony is:

  • In case of an internship at the university: A staff member of the department who assessed you. If they are unable to come, another staff member or the daily supervisor (PHD student, postdoc) can speak.
  • In case of an internship outside the university: in principle the speaker will be the supervisor from the RU who assessed you. Together with them you can decide to ask you primary supervisor to speak.
