Admission to the Bachelor’s degree programme on the basis of a pre-university (VWO) diploma

Admission to the Bachelor’s degree programme on the basis of a first-year diploma (propedeuse) from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO)

Students who wish to start the Bachelor’s degree programme in [name] based on a first-year diploma from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) must normally have successfully gained this diploma in order to gain admission. An adapted requirement will apply for the coming academic year in response to the coronavirus crisis, under which HBO students who have not yet completed their first year can already provisionally start the Bachelor’s programme. These students must present a completion recommendation from their University of Applied Sciences to the Examining Board before 1 August to confirm that they are likely to successfully complete the first year of their HBO degree programme before 1 January 2022. The Examining Board will decide on the basis of this completion recommendation whether or not to admit students.

Admission to the pre-Master’s programme on the basis of a HBO Bachelor’s degree

Students who wish to start the pre-Master’s programme in based on a Bachelor’s degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) must normally have successfully completed their degree in order to gain admission. An adapted requirement will apply for the coming academic year in response to the coronavirus crisis, under which students who have not yet completed their HBO Bachelor’s degree can already provisionally start the pre-Master’s programme. They must, however, complete their HBO Bachelor’s degree before 1 September 2022.

Admission to the Master’s degree programme on the basis of a University Bachelor’s degree

The following regulations will apply next academic year to students who wish to follow on from the Bachelor’s degree programme in to the Master’s degree programme in.

Students who have not yet successfully completed the Bachelor’s degree programme may be provisionally admitted to certain courses in the Master’s degree programme under the following conditions:

  • They must have earned at least 160 ECTS of the Bachelor’s degree programme.
  • They must complete the remaining 20 ECTS before 1 September 2022.
  • The 20 ECTS in courses yet to be completed may include the Bachelor’s thesis.
  • The Bachelor’s thesis must be successfully completed before 1 February 2022.

Admission to the Master’s degree programme on the basis of a completed pre-Master’s programme

No adapted regulations will apply here. Students who incur study delay due to the coronavirus crisis should contact the study advisor to discuss their study plan. If necessary, they can submit an individual request to the Examining Board.

Admission to the Research Master’s degree programme Philosophy on the basis of a University Bachelor’s degree

The following regulations will apply next academic year to students who wish to follow on from the Bachelor’s degree programme in Philosophy to the Research Master’s degree programme in Philosophy.

Students who have not yet successfully completed the Bachelor’s degree programme may be provisionally admitted to certain courses in the Research Master’s degree programme under the following conditions:

  • They must have earned at least 160 ECTS of the Bachelor’s degree programme.
  • They must complete the remaining 20 ECTS before 1 September 2022.
  • The Bachelor’s thesis must be successfully completed.
  • A weighted grade-point average in Philosophy in the second and third year of the Bachelor's degree studies of at least 7.5.
  • Other criteria.

Admission to the teacher-training Master’s programme

The following regulations will apply next academic year to students who wish to follow on from the Bachelor’s degree programme in [name] or the pre-Master’s programme in [name] to the Master’s degree programme in [name].

  • Students who have not yet successfully completed the Bachelor’s degree programme may be provisionally admitted to certain courses in the Master’s degree programme if they have earned at least 165 ECTS of the Bachelor’s degree programme and have completed the Bachelor’s thesis, and earn the remaining 15 ECTS before 1 September 2022.
  • Students who have not yet successfully completed the pre-Master’s programme may be provisionally admitted to certain courses in the Master’s degree programme if they have earned at least 50 ECTS of the pre-Master’s programme and have yet to complete only the pre-Master’s paper/Academic Writing 1 and 2. They must complete these elements before 1 September 2022.

International students

Non-EEA students will probably not be granted a visa based on provisional admission to the Master’s degree programme. This means that these adapted regulations cannot be applied to them.

Students from within the EEA in principle fall under the same legislation and regulations as Dutch students.
