Study association

Marie Curie is the study association (not to be confused with student association) for all students of Physics and Astronomy, with her primary goal of letting students in the same field to get to know each other.

  • Along with two other study associations within the Faculty of Science, Marie Curie has her own canteen. During lunch breaks we have grilled cheese sandwiches and during the entire day we have snacks, soda cans, coffee and tea for very student-friendly prices. But most of all, student can hang around here before, between and after their classes to meet with fellow students, read a paper or study while enjoying the comfort of our couches and listening to music. Every Thursday afternoon, Marie has her weekly drinks, which gives a nice break.
  • Marie organises a very wide range of activities, something for everyone. From game nights to drinks and from outdoor activities to symposia. Also, we regularly organise study-related activities, such as lectures by teachers on their own research or collective study moments.
  • Marie Curie also offers the possibility to order the needed books throughout the year, without paying any delivery costs and for the lowest price available. Your books can be picked up on campus.
  • Marie Curie has her own quarterly magazine, the Impuls.
  • Every year, students go on a study trip, for which you will earn credits. In the past few years we have been to England, Italy, California, South Korea, Cern & Grenoble, Central Europe, China and Spain.

Should you still not be convinced: membership is only 10 euros, but is (of course) not mandatory for your study. In practice, however, more than 90% of the students Physics and Astronomy are members of Marie Curie. So, if you want to get to know your fellow students freely and casually, become a member! Do you have any questions because of, or regarding this text? More information can be found here or you can send an email to bestuur@marie-curie.nl.

Kind regards on behalf of the board of S.V. Marie Curie.
