Tutor
Each student in the research master is paired off with a tutor, a senior researcher/principal investigator active in the chosen specialization area. The role of the tutor is to put the student wise in the research environment. The tutor helps the student find his/her way by suggesting relevant courses and seminars, providing information on ongoing research projects, and bringing the student into contact with the right people.

Study Advisor
The study advisor can help students with information on the content and the format of the study programme, and study options such as elective courses and lab rotations. The advisor can advise students on the planning of their individual study programme and on what steps to take in case they want to put matters to the Examination board.

The study advisor for the Research Master's programme Linguistics and Communication Sciences is Kim Oyen. She can be contacted through studentadvisor-lcs@ru.nl or more information can be found here.

Examination board
The examination board monitors the quality of the interim and final examinations. You can also contact the examination board if there are special circumstances that are not foreseen by the Education and Examination Regulations. In addition, the examination board evaluates requests for admission to the programme and grants permission for including particular courses in the study programme of individual students. It is advisable that you first contact the programme coordinator and/or study advisor before making an appeal to the examination board.

The examination board can be contacted through here.

Career Service
Contact Career Service Arts for information about career orientation. They could help you with information about internships, job orientation, cv and motivation letters etcetera. There is also a course Career Orientation for Master students.

International Office
Studying abroad has many advantages: it improves your language skills, it increases your independence and it broadens your career prospects. You can choose to take classes, conduct research or follow an internship at a foreign institute of higher education. Short stays abroad are also an option. Please contact the International Office Arts in case of questions about partner universities and grants.

To make sure your stay abroad fits within your programme planning and structure, we recommend making an appointment with the study advisor.
