Study abroad: major or elective courses in semester 2

While you are studying abroad, your fellow students in Nijmegen are not only taking courses from the minor they chose, but are also taking one or two courses (10 EC total) from your own degree programme.*

In the following overview you can see if you need to take these major courses in the second semester of if you can choose one or more electives.

You do not have to take these courses in the second semester. Instead, you choose 10 EC worth of courses from one of the disciplinary packages.

IBC

Cross Cultural

You have to take the course Cross Cultural Language Use (5 EC) in the second semester.

Furthermore, you take the course Academic and Professional Language Skills (5 EC).

ELC

- Research in English Linguistics (5 EC)

Fools and Furies (5 EC)

You do not have to take these courses in the second semester. Instead, you choose 10 EC worth of courses from one of the disciplinary packages.

American Studies

Pragmatics in

Research Seminar: Politics and Cultures of the Black Freedom Struggle
  (5 EC)

You do not have to take these courses in the second semester. Instead, you choose 10 EC worth of courses from one of the disciplinary packages.

History & CEH

-  Themacollege / Thematic seminar (10 EC)

With the approval of the Examination Board you can replace the Themacollege/Thematic seminar (10 EC) with a research course from a foreign university. If your request is approved, you choose 10 EC worth of courses from one of the disciplinary packages.

If this does not apply to you, you have to take a thematic seminarin the second semester.

Please note: Check whether all courses are in the right place in your SVO (study progress overview). If this is not the case, submit a request to the Examination Board in which you indicate which course(s) replace the major course(s) of the first semester.
