Short description of the programme
The international Research Master in Philosophy is a two-year programme offered by the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies of the Radboud University. In 2011, the programme received the "Internationaliseringsprijs", an award for the most international programme of the Radboud University. In 2015, it received the predicate "good" by the NVAO (the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation). With this predicate, which is very rarely given, the NVAO indicates that, in terms of quality, "this programme exceeds the ordinary level of Research Master's programmes." The programme was awarded the quality label ‘Top Programme' in the Keuzegids Masters 2017, and the quality label 'Best Programme' in the Keuzegids Masters 2018.
The programme is designed for international and Dutch students who wish to specialise in their chosen field of philosophical research and acquire the skills that are necessary either for a PhD trajectory or for a career in a profession in which research skills are of importance.
To this end, the Research Master programme offers you the possibility to specialise in your chosen domain (which happens mainly in the Research Master seminars) and to develop your methodological and academic skills (which happens mainly in the seminar Research Methods and Skills). You complete your study with a final assignment, which consists of a publishable research article and a research proposal (which might serve as the starting point of a PhD trajectory).
In comparison with similar programmes in the Netherlands and abroad, the Nijmegen Research Master in Philosophy has the following advantages:
- It has the broadest range of possible specialisations.
- It has the largest number of faculty members and therefore potential supervisors.
- It guarantees small classes and direct supervision that is tailored to your research project.
