Programme of Science Management and Innovation
Please note that this master's programme is no longer available for new students. New master's students can start the new programme of Molecular Sciences.
Students in the master MLS should graduate August 31 2023 at the latest. Make sure to consult your student advisor.
The content of the Science, Management and Innovation (SMI) is described in a separate prospectus. The Molecular Life Sciences specific part is outlined here and consists of the following components totaling 60 EC to be done in the first year:
A. A minimum of 15 EC scientific Master courses; This part needs approval from the examination board. All courses offered by the Faculty of Science will be approved, with the exception of courses offered within the Science, Management and Innovation or Science in Society specialisations.
B. NWI-MOL501A Research project of minimally 29 EC, including practical work, report, presentation (min. 23 EC), and optionally specialisation courses relevant to the internship (max. 6 EC); This research project can be done on any research department from the list of internships open to MLS.
C. NWI-MOL412 Career orientation (1 EC)
D. Philosophy course (3 EC)
E. 9 EC Electives, courses (A), a literature thesis, an extension of the research project (B), or a combination of these;
F. 3 EC Free electives.
Besides the 60 EC Molecular Life Sciences specific programme, your second year comprises of a 60 EC programme from Science, Management and Innovation. In this programme there is also a 3 EC free elective component. Both free elective components can be combined to follow a 6 EC course.
