Changes minors 2024-2025

There will be a number of changes within the minor in 2024-2025. You can read more about them below.

Background

In 2023, a committee evaluated the minor system, which concluded that it contains valuable aspects, but not all of its intended objectives are being achieved. Based on these findings, the committee arrived at a number of recommendations that will be implemented gradually over the next few years.

Main changes from 2024-2025

  1. We offer 5 thematic minors (instead of 10).
  2. Passing the theme course is no longer an entry requirement to participate in the think tank of this thematic minor in semester 2.
Please note that the think tank in semester 1 (LET-LETMI-DT00) does have an entry requirement.
  3. The course Study Abroad: Academia and Society (LET-LETMI-RF12) is no longer part of the study abroad minor. This also means that there is no longer an entry requirement for the Think tank: Study Abroad (LET-LETMI-DT12). Please note that there is still an entry requirement for the think tank in semester 1 (LET-LETMI-DT00).
NOTE: If you already went abroad in 2023-2024 or before as part of the study abroad minor, Study Abroad: Academia and Society is compulsory for you. If you have not yet passed this course, please check the transitional arrangements.
  1. From now on, you can also opt for an elective minor, consisting of a 30 EC set of cohesive courses and a think tank of 10 EC. You can find the rules and procedures here.

The Dutch-taught teacher-training minor ("educatieve minor") remains unchanged.

Study Abroad minor

From 2024-2025, the abroad minor consists of the following elements:

  1. 30 EC coherent courses from abroad
  2. 10 EC think tank (LET-LETMI-DT12)

Elective minor

You can also opt for an elective minor from 2024-2025 which consists of the following elements:

  1. 30 EC coherent courses
  2. 10 EC think tank (LET-LETMI-DT13)

More information on the rules and procedures can be found here.
