Short description of the programme

The international Research Master’s in Philosophy is a two-year programme offered by the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies of the Radboud University. It is designed for international and Dutch students who wish to acquire the skills needed for a career in academic philosophy or in other professions in which research skills are of importance.

The programme has five specialisations, reflecting the expertise of researchers at the faculty: Ethics and Political Philosophy, History of Philosophy and Science, Metaphysics and Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Mind and Language, and Philosophy of Religion. Students specialise in their domain by following intensive Research Master’s courses, and develop their methodological and academic skills in dedicated Research Methods and Skills seminars. Students complete their degree by writing a publishable research article and a research proposal, which might serve as the starting point of a PhD trajectory.

During their studies, students of the Research Master’s participate in the research activities of the department in which they are embedded, and they are each assigned a personal supervisor who guides them as they acquire the skills necessary for a career in research.
