Specialisation in Comparative Politics

In the specialisation Comparative Politics the focus is on the analysis of processes and events at the intersection of democracy, political power and policy change. The specialisation addresses the theoretical and empirical challenges to democracy in relation to the political processes and policy outcomes. You examine the configuration of political power within countries and you analyse how and why political responses to contemporary challenges vary between countries. The specialisation provides students with strong theoretical foundations and substantive empirical knowledge in subjects such as representative and deliberative democracy, political parties, democratic reform, the welfare state, gender and immigration policy.
