Programme B3

In the B3 year, you choose the direction you wish to take in Psychology. You will receive ample room to construct your own study trajectory. At the beginning of the year, you choose one profile domain. This will remain your undergraduate domain for the rest of the B3 year and will prepare you for one of the Master’s tracks at Radboud or a Master’s programme at another university.

The first layer of the B3 are the Compulsory B3 courses:

Development and Health 3
Brain & Cognition 3
Behaviour & Environment 3

Applied Research Methods: DH / BC / BE
Psychological Ethics

Research Project 3: DH / BC / BE
Bachelor thesis: DH / BC / BE

all students complete these components in the programme, some courses specifically in the choice of their profile domain. In period 1 you will take the mandatory Domain 3 course corresponding your domain profile. In addition, you will choose a second Domain 3 course. This second course does not represent a second domain profile, it’s just mandatory to take 2 out 3. The third Domain 3 course is let go*.

Additionally, in this mandatory layer, you will take the Applied Research methods course in your profile domain. You also take Psychological Ethics, in which you can focus on ethical dilemmas. The final step in this layer is Research Project 3 and your Bachelor’s thesis (12 EC in total). You will choose the Research Project and Bachelor’s Thesis subject belonging to your domain profile. RP3 and thesis are connected and scheduled in 1 full semester. Lastly you work on your work field orientation and extended professional profile in Me & My Career.

The second layer of the B3 programme are the Domain electives: Within your profile domain, you will choose three elective courses of 4 EC each (including the one in Year 2: 4 x 4 ec = 16 ec in total). Use these electives to work on a distinctive profile as a graduate and/or work on admission criteria for a master’s.  The electives are representing your own interests in your chosen profile domain in Psychology.

The third layer are the Free-choice electives The free-choice electives comprise 16 EC. You can choose according to your own interests: in or outside your profile domain, inside or outside Psychology, at Radboud programmes or at other universities in the Netherlands or abroad. The EER only precludes non-university elective courses as well as elective courses that substantially overlap with your Psychology courses. Make sure to construct a coherent programme of your liking, in order to graduate with a distinctive profile!

There is no need to inform anyone about your choice of profile; Osiris will know automatically when registering for courses.

* you are allowed to take the third Domain 3 course; it will count as a free elective
