| Sept. 15, 2012 | Joris Mooij (PI), Tom Heskes and Barbara Franke (of the department of Human Genetics of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre) have been awarded a NWO Vrije Competitie grant for their proposal "More Confidence in Causal Discovery". The project aims to develop novel methods that output probabilistic measures on the confidence in inferred causal relations. Tom Claassen will start in January 2013 as postdoc on this project. |

| May, 2012 | The EU Project OPTIMISTIC, a collaboration with the UMC Department of Neurology on studying myotonic dystrophy, got accepted. The Machine Learning group is involved to develop and apply techniques for finding biomarkers that best explain the quality of life of dystrophy patients and then may lead to new therapies. |
