Chronic fatigue
For most people, fatigue is a ‘normal’ and sometimes pleasant state that is experienced regularly.Fatigue becomes a symptom when it is severe, chronic, and interfering with daily live. Chronic fatigue, which is highly prevalent, can be the result of a chronic illness. When a somatic explanation is lacking, we sometimes speak of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). I study chronic fatigue in both chronic illness and in CFS. My research focuses on:
- Possible determinants of chronic fatigue;
- Development and implementation of cognitive behavioural interventions;
- Study of the mechanisms of change of effective interventions.
