Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology
Aim of my group is to unravel the neurocognitive mechanisms of human learning and memory adopting a system-level approach, combining behavioural studies in healthy subjects and patients with brain disorders with neuroimaging (structural/functional MRI).
Specifically we examine the:
- interaction and overlap between executive control (incl. working memory) and episodic and/or prospective memory, with emphasis on the medial temporal lobe
- interaction between memory encoding and retrieval
- mechanisms underlying individual differences in lifespan-related memory decline and brain disease
- mechanisms of plasticity and learning, and their application in cognitive rehabilitation
- application of the above in neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychiatry
