MEG methods

The MEG Methods group works on the development of novel acquisition and data analysis methods for MEG and EEG data with applications in cognitive neuroimaging. By recording the electromagnetic activity produced by the brain in action, MEG and EEG offer a unique opportunity to investigate cognitive functioning with high temporal resolution and reasonable spatial resolution. Furthermore, MEG and especially EEG allows the recording of brain activity during highly dynamic real-world contexts in combination with other techniques such as eye tracking, behavioral tracking and other physiological signals. Specific research projects focus on time-series signal processing, source reconstruction, connectivity analysis and statistical analysis.

New methods developed in the group are implemented in, and disseminated by means of the FieldTrip toolbox. This toolbox reflects the leading role that the Donders Institute has had for the last 15 years in advancing MEG and EEG analysis methods. It continues to be actively developed and supported by an international team of collaborators and open source enthusiasts.
