MR Structural Quantitative Imaging
Structural magnetic resonance imaging can give you beautiful images of the brain… but do they don’t tell us much about the tissue properties of a given brain region.
Our group focuses on creating new strategies to obtain both high quality and informative images that take full advantage of the interaction of the used magnetic fields (static and radiofrequency) with the tissues electro-magnetic tissue properties.
This is done by: developing new sequences for in vivo imaging free artifacts, developing biophysical tissue models and strategies to transform the obtained imaging data into quantitative tissue information.
We contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms that give rise to the observed relaxation and devise protocols that could give clinicians and neuroscientists an increased capability to measure tissue property maturation, degeneration and viability. And because we like our subjects to enjoy their scanning sessions, we would like to do this as fast as possible!
