Alzheimer's disease

Theme leader: Jurgen Claassen

Alzheimer’s disease is a complex disorder that presents in various stages (asymptomatic, mild cognitive impairment, early to advanced dementia) and at different ages (early mid-life to elderly). We aim to unravel risk factors for this disease, with specific focus on vascular disease and sleep, and target these factors for prevention. Our research towards patient care aims to individualize the diagnostic approach and therapeutic and care interventions to obtain an optimal fit with patient characteristics and individual preference.
