An interoperable pipeline for historical Caribbean population databases

During the past years, the historical database of Suriname and the Caribbean has developed various digital workflows that can function as a blueprint for similar projects. The overarching aim of our project is to collect the legacies and history of the Dutch empire within the Caribbean region by collecting and linking all population registrations. During this lecture we will discuss all steps in our pipeline from archival sources, through Handwritten Text Recognition, linking algorithms, towards an open access linked database. This lecture is intended for everyone who is curious about combining and augmenting existing databases through the use of digital tools.

The location of this lecture is E 3.12.
