In this lecture, Willien van Wieringen shares her story of growing up in a pillarised society, within a Roman Catholic family. Life was full of certainties. Over time, however, things began to shift, and (sometimes unpleasant) surprises appeared along her path. Yet, time and again, there was the Church, of which she remained a part. And time and again, there was God, with whom she maintained a relationship. His existence was self-evident – the relationship was not. And this remains true to this day.
