Pauline Gagnon, a retired particle physicist, public speaker and advocate for equity in science, will lead a lively training session on How to become an Active Bystander. This session is opened to all, regarding gender, age, race, class, hierarchic level or sexual orientation. Here is your chance to learn how to help make science welcoming to everyone by getting tools to deal with uncomfortable situations.
The session will mostly consist in a hand-on activity, where the participants, working in sub-groups, will figure out ways to deal with sexist or racist comments, inappropriate behaviours or situations that could lead to exclusion or alienation of members of our working or study groups. Know someone who could benefit? Invite a colleague or peer to join you in the session!
