Philosopher and classicist Cornelis Verhoeven (1928-2001) is considered one of the most original Dutch thinkers of the twentieth century. He wrote and translated numerous works. For this he received the P.C. Hooft Prize in 1978. Moreover, he was a lover of old books, a true collector. Concrete reason for this symposium is the recent transfer of his collection of special editions from Klooster Soeterbeeck to the Nijmegen University Library. With contributions from, among others, prof. dr. Marc van Oostendorp, dr. Ben Schomakers and prof. dr. Paul van Tongeren.
