On 22 May 2026, you are warmly invited to a festive afternoon in Nijmegen. On this occasion, we celebrate the completion of the Geert Grote Project: a seven‑volume edition of the collected works of Geert Grote (Gerardi Magni Opera omnia). This remarkable series has been the fruit of several decades of work by Rudolf van Dijk O.Carm., Rijcklof Hofman and Marinus van den Berg, affiliated with the Titus Brandsma Institute.

The project officially began in 1988. The first volume was published in 2000, followed by several subsequent publications. Now, the time has come to conclude the project with the edition of the final two treatises by Geert Grote (1340–1384). A wonderful milestone!

Transfer of the Brandsma Collection

During this gathering, we will also transfer the Brandsma Collection to the University Library Nijmegen. This collection consists of roughly 200 folders of photographs of medieval manuscripts, primarily in Middle Dutch and Middle Low German. They were collected in the 1920s and 1930s by Titus Brandsma and his assistant Sister Feugen. Particularly special is that some of these manuscripts were lost during the Second World War – and thanks to these photographs, they have nevertheless been preserved.
