Climate Crossroads: Fighting climate change through serious gaming

Monday 8 May 2023, 9 am - Sunday 14 May 2023, 5 pm
A Radboud Gesture

The significant increase in CO2 in the air is a result of human lifestyle and leads to a large increase in the temperature of the earth. Scientists have come to the conclusion that when the temperature rises more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, it will have serious consequences for the Earth's climate. This climate change will lead to more periods of drought, floods, water and food crises and pandemics (KNMI, n.d.).

The goal of our project is to make people aware of the problem, help them deal with it, and contribute to the solution. We do this 1) by providing information and thus contributing to existing knowledge about climate change, its causes and solutions and 2) by providing concrete tools to make an individual contribution and thus increase people's self-reliance in solving problems. this global problem. To achieve these goals, we have developed a single-player text-based adventure game called 'Climate Crossroads'. Our Radboud gesture means that we will make Climate Crossroads available via a link to. In this way we hope to teach young people from Nijmegen more about how they can deal with climate change and what they themselves can do to combat it.
