Course Beyond content: how to make a real difference as a teacher

Our university's strategy of is to "make a significant impact". But how? This course will give you the pointers on how to make your teaching more impactful by considering the principles of sustainable development.

    General

While many colleagues think of the environment and reusable cups in the canteen when they hear about sustainable development, they almost never realise that sustainability is a more holistic concept that relates to their own teaching duties and everyone's professional responsibilities.

    During the course

You will discuss during the course why education and science should be the main drivers for sustainability. It will also suggest ways to equip students not only with the required knowledge, but also with the necessary skills for the future. This course will help you future-proof your education!

    Target group

Do you care about your students and the future? Then this course is for you. Anyone can participate in this course. No specific prior knowledge is required. Is sustainability an important topic in your private life, but not (yet) in your education? Then take part in this course, even if you think your subjects have nothing to do with sustainability. The course will offer you a different perspective on the relevance of sustainability for every course and teacher.

    Working method during this course

The course consists of two interactive sessions. The first lasts three hours and the second lasts two hours. Attendance at the first session is expected. Participation in the second session is very valuable, but if you really can't come, you don't have to attend.

The course provides food for thought and space for discussion. As a participant, you will be inspired and develop ideas on how to integrate the topic of sustainable development into your own teaching, even if you do not have much time to make major adjustments.

On successful completion, you will receive a certificate. The course is in English, unless all participants speak Dutch.

    Costs

Participation is free of charge. Lunch is not included.
