Critical Think Tank Movie Night #2

Tuesday 24 February 2026, 5 pm - 7:30 pm
Screening Souleymane’s Story, followed by a guided discussion on migration law, the gig economy, the limits of humanitarianism, and the global inequalities shaping contemporary migration governance.

The Critical Think Tank is pleased to invite you to their second movie night!

They will be screening Souleymane’s Story, followed by a guided discussion engaging the film from a range of critical perspectives. Our conversation will explore migration law, the gig economy, the limits of humanitarianism, and the global inequalities shaping contemporary migration governance.

Souleymane’s Story follows a Guinean immigrant navigating life in Paris while preparing for a make-or-break asylum interview. The movie weaves together the daily struggle in the gig-economy with the bureaucratic and psychological pressures of asylum procedures, offering an intimate and unsparing portrayal of undocumented migrant's vulnerability, and resilience. The Guardian wrote a review of Souleymane's Story.

We look forward to seeing you there and to a thoughtful discussion afterwards. Please register here. Feel free to bring your own snacks!
