These workshops will help you take steps towards more Generative AI (GenAI)-aware education. You can focus on fostering GenAI consciousness in students, improving your educational design, or ensuring responsible GenAI implementation.
GenAI is reshaping the educational landscape as these tools become more widely used to support or even outsource academic tasks. This shift raises critical questions for every educator: What happens to student development when thinking is outsourced to GenAI? To what extent does the use of GenAI conflict with my academic values? How shall I redesign my teaching to be more AI-conscious? And do I want to integrate these tools into my education?
Building on the foundation of the Brightspace self-study AI & Teaching Literacy Module, these workshops focus on different aspects of the relationship between academic education and GenAI. Please choose the sessions that align best with your needs. We believe it is most worthwhile to join the workshops in sequence, but it is also possible to enrol separately based on your schedule or preference.
Target group
The workshops are designed specifically for teachers who are interested in finding the right path forward in the current age of GenAI in academic education. Before you attend these workshops, you are required to go through the components (differs per workshop) of the AI & Teaching Literacy Module. Please bring notes on your educational GenAI challenges to the workshops. It is valuable to do this together with a colleague.
Method
There are four workshops of 3 hours: • Workshop A gives more insight and grip on the impact of GenAI on student development and academic skills & integrity. • Workshop B focuses on educational design and aims to improve the learning objectives, learning activities, and assessment methods. • Workshop C engages with how to responsibly use GenAI in the coordination and development of your education. • Workshop D focuses on how to organize and communicate the responsible use of GenAI by students in your education.
The meetings are designed to ensure that you leave with a clear concept or plan to improve your education in the near future.
The workshops are in English, unless all participants speak Dutch.

Lecturers who attend all workshops can request a Certificate of Attendance.

Workshop B (3 hours): Educational design in times of GenAI In this meeting, we will explore how to adapt our educational design to account for the availability and capabilities of GenAI tools. Together, we aim to develop creative solutions to the challenges that arise when applying Constructive Alignment to our education in a world with GenAI.
Workshop C (3 hours): Responsible use of GenAI for educational development In this session, we examine GenAI functionalities intersect with the educational development process. We will critically explore the ‘when, how, and why’ of using GenAI as a creative and logistical tool behind the scenes of your teaching, while identifying the scenarios where GenAI is best avoided. You will evaluate various GenAI functions to find practical solutions that align with your educational goals.
Workshop D (3 hours): Responsible use of GenAI in educational practice This session focuses on the responsible use of GenAI by students in your educational moments.
