A Radboud Gesture

'12 Angry Men' (1957) is a wonderful classic movie about evidence in criminal justice, about the search for truth, and having to decide in uncertainty, convicting the guilty and acquitting the innocent. It is also about convincing each other, exposing biases, avoiding tunnel vision and considering alternative scenarios. How do you weigh evidence and how do you come together to the judgment that someone is guilty or innocent?

In honor of Radboud University's 100th anniversary, the Criminal Law and Criminology Department of the law school is organizing a film and debate evening on these fundamental questions in criminal law with anyone interested. Radboud University's motto is Change Perspective. Using this motto as a guideline, associate professor Sjarai Lestrade will discuss criminal law themes that are addressed in the film with the audience: the presumption of innocence, valuing evidence, limitations and (judicial) persuasion.

Location: Lux theatre Nijmegen, theatre room 4
