Four Days Marches: Mariënburgplein - Kids Lab

Saturday 18 July 2026, 1 pm - 5 pm
Join us for fun experiments at the Kids lab during the Four Days Marches!

Come do scientific experiments at the Kidsplein during the Vierdaagse!

The Mariënburgplein will once again be transformed into a laboratory for children. On Saturday 18 July, you can take part in all kinds of experiments run by Radboud scientists. Print your name in 3D, discover gravity, learn about language, play with loose parts, and test your maths skills! You can even take part in real research in the Tickle Lab (Kietellab)!

Loose parts play

Adventurous play with loose parts

Are you brave enough to play with loose parts? Step into our play zone and discover how you can build your own adventurous world using all kinds of materials. Create, experiment, and take risks while learning about the benefits of risky play. Come along and experience an unforgettable adventure!

Naamsleutelhangers

3D print your own name

Stop by our 3D printing station and print a keychain with your name!
Watch how the printer brings your name to life, layer by layer. And of course, you get to take your personalized keychain home with you!

Gravity well

Gravity in Space?

Astronauts, comets, and stars float in space. So, is there no gravity in the universe? Actually, there is! Come visit our Gravity Well and we will explain exactly how it works. But watch out! You might get pulled so hard that you end up in a black hole!

Kietellab

Tickling for science

Have you ever wondered why some touches feel ticklish and others do not? And why can't you tickle yourself? Help us find out and take part in a real study!

Spectroscopen

Stardust?

"We are all made of stardust." Have you ever heard that saying? But how do we actually know what stardust is, or what stars are made of? Astronomers piece the answers together using spectroscopes. Join in with real spectroscopes and discover which stardust you're made of!

Winning with mathematics

How does mathematics help with winning a game? Can you help the walkers of the Four Days Marches figure out the best route? Can you create a beautiful pattern without repeating anything? Come by and puzzle along!

Swamps scary? No way!

In fairy tales, swamps are creepy and full of evil spirits and monsters. You can easily get lost there and maybe even drown. Because it's very wet there. That's because they've been the sponges of the earth for thousands of years.
You'll get to see for yourself how swamps can be so wet, and which plants can still live there, including carnivorous plants! You'll go from very big to very small, and look for yourself with a digital microscope at the little plants that keep everything so wet, and at the little creatures that live there. Come along into the swamp, because it's actually really fun there!

Artwork Professorproef

Professorproef XL (In Dutch)

In Professorproef XL, Radboud scientists answer all the questions children can think of. First they give a mini-lecture, and then the children get to go wild. Who gives the best answer and wins the Professorproef? The children decide! Still not enough afterwards? Then listen to our children's podcast Professorproef. Come along!

Please note: Professorproef XL can be seen from 16:15 to 17:00 on the stage at the Mariënburgplein.
