In three parallel sessions, we will explore future scenarios in key areas of the university:
1. Futures of teaching
Kasper Maes, Verandersignalen
The future is unpredictable. But that doesn’t mean you can’t influence it. In this session, you’ll work together to explore different futures for education in which digitalisation and humanity reinforce one another. Using the ‘backcasting’ method of future forecasting, you’ll examine what steps you can take to make those futures a reality. That way, you can start building a new future as early as tomorrow.
2. Campus of the future
Sjieuwke Dankert, SURF
Education is under increasing pressure due to developments such as digitalisation, AI, globalisation, climate issues and a changing labour market. What do these developments mean for the campus of the future? In this session, we will first explore relevant trends and scenarios for campus innovation. Participants will then set to work themselves, designing potential campus innovations for the future.
3. Student development and the future of the labour market
Anna-Carolina Zuiderduin, Strategic Foresight & Innovation TU Delft
In this interactive session, participants will be introduced to the Delft Strategic Foresight Approach (DSFA): a practical method for systematically testing strategic assumptions in the face of profound uncertainty. Using a strategic issue relating to student development as a starting point, participants will carry out a foresight stress test themselves. Which assumptions prove to be vulnerable, and what does that mean for the robustness of your strategy? We will examine signals, tensions and opportunities through the lens of futuring.
