In the context of the Summer School “Critical AI Literacies for Resisting and Reclaiming” and the course “Sustainable AI”, we are organizing a public screening of the “Ghost in the Machine” (Valerie Veatch, 2026) documentary. Through interviews with critical experts, the film explores the origins of “Artificial Intelligence”, including correlation, regression, theories of (super)intelligence, and semiconductors. The film describes how these origins have their roots in eugenics, scientific racism, sexism and the desire for power and control. This makes the film a recommended viewing for anyone interested in AI technologies.
Join us to learn about these origins and how they continue to re-emerge in current AI applications and technosolutionist narratives from Silicon Valley.
Contrary to dominant corporate narratives, this documentary invites us to resist and reclaim our agency.
