Immersive Technology
On Thursday 24 October, the SIG eXtended Reality in education is organising a meet-up with the theme ‘Immersive Technology’. We will kick off with the long-awaited arrival of a new XR device - from unpacking to trying it out yourself! We'd also like to exchange ideas with you about a platform to unlock and share university wide 3D objects for both education and research, and dive a little deeper into the technology that will make displaying/streaming XR images and content easier in the near future.
The following topics will be covered:
- Mystery device unboxing & try-out
- New techniques such as ‘Point cloud streaming’ and 3D / 4D Gaussian splatting
- An university 3D object repository?
