The SIG Inter- and Transdisciplinary Education (ITDO) invites you to join us on 11 November to follow the NRO webinar on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). We will watch it together on the Radboud University campus and then have a brief discussion about what SoTL can mean for our own teaching practice. Building bridges is at the heart of ITDO, here in the form of practitioner research, between educational research and teaching practice. The webinar is intended for education professionals in higher professional education and university education who want to systematically research and improve their teaching.
Time: 15:15-17:00 (Webinar: 15:30-16:30, with walk-in and follow-up discussion)
What's in it for you?
During the Webinar, SoTL experts Irma Meijerman, Femke Kirschner, Deborah Yapp and Svenne Groeneweg share insights from research and practice. We will discuss:
- What is SoTL?
- What are the effects on student learning and teaching quality?
- How do you start a SoTL project?
- Inspiring practical examples
SoTL differs from academic educational research in that it is not about theoretical or generalisable knowledge, but about improvements in one's own educational context. The lecturer is both researcher and practitioner of innovative insights.
