We invite you to the second challenge-driven and applied NeurotechEU hackathon! Together with students and researchers from various disciplines, you will tackle a socio-technological citizenship challenge, work in teams, and pitch innovative solutions to a panel of experts. The hackathon is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students.
The aim of a challenge-driven hackathon is to bring people with various perspectives together and engage you to work intensely to accelerate innovative ideas, solutions, and potential paths forward to pressing and relevant issues.
You as a student or researcher, will work in teams, drawing from all your experiences and expertise to find new and creative solutions to a complex and multifaceted challenge relevant for the NeurotechEU alliance. NeurotechEU Student Teams will be working on a challenge related to socio-technological citizenship. The chosen angle and exact theme will be revealed on the first day of the hack.
Profile of participants
The beauty of a hackathon is the different perspectives of each participant. Students (bachelor, master, PhD) and researchers of any disciplinary background ready to work in an inter- or trans-disciplinary environment are welcome.
The Hack agenda
During the hackathon, facilitators, coordinator and a back office will energize and support the teams and guide them through the hack process.
- We begin by deepening our understanding of the challenge, by defining the needs of the people connected to it. There will be several resources and experts available for the teams to help them gain insights.
- Based on these insights, the teams will work together to find a number of potential ideas and solutions.
- The teams will come up with one final idea, which they will pitch to a jury panel who will grade the projects based on certain assessment criteria.
- And finally, the award ceremony where the winning team will receive a nice prize.
Program Coordinators
NeurotechEU is organizing this hackathon in cooperation with the BME/Technological and Societal Innovation Workgroup (WG) which is concerned with the development of policies and strategies that facilitate NeurotechEU’s capacity to develop neuro-technologies that people really care about, are ethical and regulated, understood by the user, and provide benefit without a harmful footstep. With your participation in the challenge, you can contribute directly to this mission by proposing a creative solution towards a Science with and for Society (SwafS).
