Performance De Romanzieke Juffer

Monday 17 November 2025, 5:15 pm - 7:30 pm
De Romanzieke Juffer – a 17th-century farce revived by Theatergroep De Kale

A young woman is captivated by novels and refuses to get married. She drives her father and lover insane with her idealised views on love, marriage and the male sex. At first glance, this ‘young lady’ maybe seems a romantic dreamer, but ultimately she is a powerful character with a strong will of her own and a great desire for freedom.

De Romanzieke Juffer was written in 1685 by Amsterdam playwright Pieter Bernagie. More than three centuries later, Theatergroep De Kale – the specialist in 17th-century theatre – is breathing new life into the play with a compelling performance for students and staff of Radboud University at the Lindenberg Cultuurhuis.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the theatre of yesteryear, full of humour, satire and surprising insights!
